Keely Hodgkinson calls the past 12 months the toughest of her career but she wouldn’t change a thing. After two torn hamstrings crushed her ambitious 2025 plans, including missing out on indoor titles and her own record attempt at the Keely Klassic, the Olympic 800m champion was forced into a 376-day break from competition. Her comeback in August was nothing short of explosive clocking 1:54.74, the fastest time of the year and just shy of her British record. Speaking to BBC Sport, the 23-year-old revealed how injury setbacks tested her mentally and physically: “I’ve realised how strong I am.” With a fearless return and commanding wins in Silesia and Lausanne, Hodgkinson’s resilience now sets the stage for a dominant return to championship contention.
