The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has opened a probe into an agreement between the government and a foreign firm estimated to be worth RM1.1 billion. The investigation follows complaints from NGOs alleging the deal was concluded "hastily" and without proper approvals from the Ministry of Finance or the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry.

Sources indicate that MACC has already seized documents related to the agreement from the Economy Ministry on February 13. Investigators are also looking into potential conflicts of interest, as several individuals reportedly received senior positions in the company after leaving government roles. Key officials are expected to be called in for official statements as the probe intensifies.
