In a significant cultural milestone, the central tower of the Sagrada Família in Barcelona has finally been completed, marking the end of exterior work on the massive Gothic basilica. The project, designed by famed architect Antoni Gaudí, first began in 1882.

The completion of the 176-meter "Tower of Jesus Christ" coincides with the 100th anniversary of Gaudí's death. The project has faced over a century of delays, including the Spanish Civil War, the destruction of Gaudí's original plans, and the recent global pandemic.

The tower is crowned with a 17-meter tall cross, making it one of the tallest religious structures in the world. While the exterior is now complete, work on the interior and final decorative elements is expected to continue for several more years.
