Two-time Oscar winner Tom Hanks is set to star as Abraham Lincoln in a unique adaptation of George Saunders' bestselling novel Lincoln in the Bardo. The project is particularly notable for its experimental format, which blends live-action with stop-motion animation to depict the former president’s grief following the death of his 11-year-old son.
Directed by Duke Johnson, the film explores intimate themes of loss and empathy during the American Civil War era. Hanks will also serve as a producer through his Playtone label alongside partner Gary Goetzman.
