Global streaming giant iQIYI has officially announced a new slate of five Malaysian original productions during its "Celebr-Eid" event held this week. The 2026 lineup spans various genres including romance, family drama, and psychological suspense, featuring high profile local stars such as Uqasha Senrose, Fasha Sandha, and MK K-Clique. Among the most anticipated titles is Madu Atau Racun, a complex romance drama scheduled for a July release, and the family centric Sekali Lagi, Bahagia, debuting in September. 

This investment highlights the rapid growth of iQIYI Malaysia, which has seen its local content engagement double over the past year. The platform is also capitalizing on the rising popularity of C-dramas (Chinese dramas) with Malay subtitles, which have become a staple for a broad and diverse local audience. Other upcoming titles in the 2026 slate include the psychological thriller Griya and the emotional drama Dua Nyawa, further diversifying the streaming giant's homegrown offerings. 

The announcement comes as other platforms like Viu Malaysia also gear up for a "darker" 2026 with their own slate of revenge dramas and thrillers. This competitive landscape is providing a massive boost to the local creative economy, offering more opportunities for Malaysian actors, directors, and screenwriters to showcase their work on a regional scale. Industry experts note that Malaysian stories are increasingly being developed with both local and global audiences in mind.
