The Malayalam box office saw a massive surge yesterday with the arrival of high profile films like the period action drama "Pallichattambi", starring Tovino Thomas, and the dark comedy sequel "Mohiniyattam". Early reports suggest a positive reception for Tovino's portrayal of a local rowdy in a 1950s setting. In other industry news, film stars Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, and Prithviraj Sukumaran were spotted casting their votes early this morning for the ongoing Kerala elections. 

On the legal front, Malayalam director Ranjith Balakrishnan has been granted bail by a magistrate court following his arrest in a sexual harassment case. The court imposed strict conditions, including surrendering his passport and a prohibition from entering the Fort Kochi district where the alleged incident took place. 

Meanwhile, legendary actors Mammootty and Mohanlal have clarified that their reunion in the upcoming project "Patriot" is a celebration of their long standing friendship. Fans are also following the box office journey of "Vaazha 2", which has crossed the ₹47 crore mark in its second week.
