Director Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana has officially been announced as a two part global cinematic event with a record breaking budget of ₹4,000 crore. Part 1 is scheduled for a worldwide release during Diwali 2026, with Part 2 following in Diwali 2027. Lead actor Yash recently presented the project at CinemaCon 2026, confirming that the films are being designed as high end visual spectacles for international IMAX audiences.

The epic features a star studded cast including Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. Supporting roles are filled by Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi. The production is a massive technical collaboration, featuring a soundtrack by A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, with visual effects by the Oscar winning studio DNEG.

Principal photography for the first installment is largely complete, with the team now focusing on the extensive post production required for its 2026 debut. The project aims to be India's largest cultural export, utilizing cutting edge performance capture technology to bring the ancient epic to life. Early footage has already generated significant buzz among global distributors for its unprecedented scale and detail.
