Sabah para athletes delivered a stellar performance at the Allianz-MSN-POPM 2026 National Para Athletics Circuit 1, finishing second overall in the standings. The contingent captured a total of 38 medals, including 21 gold, nine silver, and eight bronze, during the event held at the IPG Stadium in Cheras last weekend.

Standout performers included Andrianshah Bagudan, Connie Zeno, and Heronlee Wong, who all secured double gold medals in their respective throwing events. On the track, Muhamad Shaban Shahid dominated the T45 category by winning both the 100m and 200m sprints, contributing significantly to Sabah's impressive gold medal tally.

The success was attributed to the dedication and discipline of the athletes, many of whom have been part of long-term developmental programs in the state. This strong showing at the national circuit serves as a promising indicator for Sabah's prospects in upcoming regional and international para sport competitions.
