The Malaysian Football League (MFL) has officially confirmed that foreign match officials will be brought in to referee the upcoming Malaysia Cup Final. The high profile championship showdown between Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) and Kuching City is scheduled to take place at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on May 23.
MFL President Datuk Ab Ghani Hassan revealed that an elite international quartet will be secured. The specialized crew will feature a foreign head referee, two linesmen assistants, and an expert Video Assistant Referee (VAR) specialist to ensure impartial officiating.
The strategic decision was implemented to elevate the match experience and insulate the intense, feisty clash from domestic refereeing controversies. While the move involves higher administrative costs, it also offers a vital learning opportunity for local referees to observe international standards.
