KUALA LUMPUR: Men's singles shuttler Cheam June Wei can now be claimed the true king of Lin Dan Cup after becoming the first player to win fourth men's singles title in the series in Chenzhou, China on Sunday.

Indepedent world No. 70 June Wei proved yet again that he is a transformed player as he upstaged China's former world No. 11 Zhao Jun Peng 15-13, 9-15, 15-13 in the final to rule the Lin Dan Cup again.

The victory was even more memorable as June Wei was down and out at 13-8 in the rubber game before scoring seven consecutive points to claim his fourth title in the tournament promoted by Chinese men's singles legend Lin Dan himself.

"This moment is worth every hard work. #lindancup," wrote June Wei on his Instagram after winning the title.

It also fetched him a handsome 200,000 yuan (RM120,800) for his efforts.

June Wei's previous Lin Dan Cup titles were secured in Shenzhen in 2023, Macau in 2024 and in Jincheng last year.

The four titles alone has fetched June Wei a total of 1.1 million yuan (RM664,000) in prize money.

June Wei has not been doing well on the World Tour with his best result is the runner-up finishes at the Azerbaijan International and Phuket International Challenge.

However, the Malaysian will be hoping to earn more prize money by competing in the Lin Dan legs in Nanjing (Aug 14-16), Jinan (Oct 4-6) and Wuhan (Oct 13-Nov 2) this year.
