Malaysia's 5G is Now the Second Fastest in Asia Pacific, Says Opensignal

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 — Opensignal's latest analysis of mobile network experience in the Asia Pacific (APAC) highlights Malaysia's strong 5G performance. According to the "Benchmarking the Asia Pacific Mobile Network Experience – September 2024" report, which analyzed data from April 1 to June 30, Malaysia ranked second for 5G download speeds at 295.5Mbps, trailing far behind South Korea’s 427.5Mbps. 

For 5G upload speeds, Malaysia placed third at 34Mbps, slightly behind Taiwan but significantly below South Korea’s 52.2Mbps. Malaysia also showed a significant 4G to 5G speed uplift of 10.3Mbps for downloads.

However, when considering overall network performance (combining 5G and 4G), Malaysia ranked 7th for download speeds (50.3Mbps) and 5th for upload speeds (11Mbps). The country narrowly edged Vietnam in downloads but was overtaken by Vietnam in upload speed, with a 4.8Mbps gap. Singapore ranked second in overall download speed, had a 29.1Mbps lead over Malaysia.
