KLUANG, Sept 26 — Couple Arrested for Allegedly Abusing Toddler, Child Hospitalized

A married couple in their 20s was arrested for allegedly abusing their three-year-old son, resulting in his hospitalization. Kluang police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh reported that the couple was detained early yesterday at Enche Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital after doctors suspected child abuse.

The boy had multiple injuries consistent with physical abuse. Both parents tested negative for drugs and had no prior criminal records. They are now in police custody and have been remanded for seven days as the investigation continues under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, which can lead to a prison sentence of up to 20 years.

Authorities are seeking information about the case and the boy's relatives, as he was left alone in the hospital after his parents' arrest.
