RM1,000 Aid for Vehicle Owners Affected by Putrajaya Flash Flood, Interim Parking to Be Built
Dr Zaliha Mustafa, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, announced RM1,000 in assistance for the 20 vehicle owners whose cars were submerged in the flash flood in Putrajaya’s Precinct 11. In response, the Putrajaya Corporation will create an interim parking lot for 200 vehicles, to be completed within two weeks.
The minister also proposed installing an IoT-based warning system to alert residents about rising water levels, using sensors in drainage compartments. The flash flood, caused by heavy rain and blocked water flow from Sungai Anak Gajah, marked the first such incident in the area.
Dr Zaliha pledged to work with the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) to review and improve the drainage system and explore advanced solutions like sponge city concepts for future developments.
