Petronas Kimanis station has launched a six-month pilot project to test RON97 fuel demand for vehicles traveling between Brunei and Sabah.

Domestic Trade Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the move addresses complaints from Bruneian tourists who can only purchase unsubsidised RON97, which is scarce across Sabah — available at just 37 out of 260 stations due to low demand.

The trial, using a 5,000-litre Mini Portable Container System, aims to evaluate fuel sales performance, logistics, and supply stability. If successful, more stations along the Brunei-Kota Kinabalu route could offer RON97 in the future.
