Kuala Lumpur — Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has postponed his official visit to Malaysia, originally set for this Friday, due to heightened tensions following the recent Kashmir attack, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim confirmed.

In a phone call, Shehbaz informed Anwar of the decision, which Anwar said he fully understands given Pakistan’s current challenges. He condemned the violence and expressed hope for a swift de-escalation, while calling for an independent investigation to identify those responsible.

Anwar reaffirmed Malaysia’s willingness to assist in promoting peace between India and Pakistan, emphasizing the country's close ties with both nations.

Despite the delay, both leaders remain committed to strengthening bilateral ties, including the signing of a pending memorandum of understanding. Anwar said Malaysia looks forward to welcoming PM Shehbaz at a more peaceful time.
