TOKYO — Five staff members at Tachikawa Daisan Elementary School in western Tokyo suffered minor injuries after two intruders broke in on Thursday morning, smashing windows and entering a second-grade classroom.
No children were harmed, and both suspects were swiftly apprehended, according to Japanese media. The school hosts over 500 students and 30 staff.
Emergency crews and police were seen securing the scene, drawing concern from nearby residents. Though rare, violent incidents like this do occur in Japan despite its low crime rate.
