SHAH ALAM — Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul has called on the Higher Education Ministry to promote greater ASEAN awareness among students across all institutions, highlighting the need to prepare youth for regional leadership.

Speaking at the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly’s Young Parliamentarians Caucus dinner, Johari emphasized the importance of ASEAN unity in maintaining peace and prosperity. With nearly 700 million people—40% being youth—the region must work closely to avoid conflicts seen in other parts of the world.

He warned that without deepening the ASEAN spirit, Southeast Asia risks instability and losing decades of regional harmony.
