KUCHING — Belgian chipmaker Melexis is accelerating its growth in Kuching, Sarawak, with plans to hire more young local talents in electronics and software engineering over the next few years. As part of its global expansion in integrated circuit (IC) design and testing, the company has moved into a larger facility and is strengthening ties with local universities like Swinburne and UNIMAS to develop industry-ready graduates.

CEO Marc Biron emphasized Melexis' commitment to long-term collaboration with academic institutions to bridge the skills gap and boost innovation. The company, which already employs over 70 people in Kuching, aims to add 50 more staff—including engineers and technicians—as it develops new automotive-grade ICs for global markets. Biron praised Malaysia’s stable geopolitical position, calling it a key advantage for business stability and growth.
