Thailand has concluded its six-week search operation at the site of a partially built Bangkok skyscraper that collapsed during a March 28 earthquake originating in Myanmar. The collapse of the 30-story State Audit Office tower was unique in Bangkok, where other buildings withstood the tremors. The disaster resulted in 96 deaths, with 89 bodies recovered and seven individuals still missing. Authorities are investigating the building's collapse, with scrutiny on construction practices and material quality, following a preliminary finding of substandard steel. An anti-corruption body had previously flagged irregularities in the project, which began in 2020.
