In response to the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack that killed and abducted many Israelis, Israel has continued its military operations targeting Gaza. Over the past year, more than 53,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 100,000 injured, according to Gaza health officials. Israel claims it is targeting Hamas militants, accusing them of operating from densely populated civilian areas — a reason cited for high civilian casualties.

In the latest escalation, Israeli forces launched overnight airstrikes on Gaza’s Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis outskirts, killing 64 people. Of the victims, 48 were taken to the Indonesian hospital and 16 to Nasser hospital. This comes shortly after Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu declared plans to intensify efforts to eliminate Hamas.

Meanwhile, Israeli and Qatari officials are engaged in negotiations toward a possible ceasefire, though no clear breakthrough has been reported yet.
