Israel announced on Saturday it would allow food to be airdropped into Gaza and establish humanitarian corridors for UN aid convoys, as thousands of Palestinians face widespread famine. This decision follows prior commitments from the UAE and Britain to restart or assist aid drops.
The announcement came on a day when the Palestinian civil defense agency reported over 50 Palestinians killed in Israeli strikes and shootings, some while waiting near aid distribution centers. Separately, Israeli troops boarded a boat carrying pro-Palestinian activists attempting to breach a naval blockade on Gaza.
While Israel claims these measures will improve the humanitarian situation and refute "false claims of deliberate starvation," humanitarian organizations remain deeply skeptical, arguing that airdrops are insufficient and ineffective. They continue to demand increased overland aid access.
