KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has remanded two more policemen suspected of soliciting and receiving about RM635,000 in bribes to avoid taking action against illegal gambling activities.

A six-day remand order until Aug 5 was issued by assistant registrar Chai Ing Hien at the Johor Baru Magistrate's Court earlier today, following an application by the MACC.

According to sources, the two male suspects, in their 30s, were arrested around 9pm yesterday when they turned up to give their statements at the MACC Johor office.

"This follows the arrest of two other policemen yesterday in connection with the same RM635,000 bribery case. To date, four suspects have been detained," the source said.

Johor MACC Deputy Operations Director Hairul Ilham Hamzah confirmed the arrests when contacted. The case is being investigated under Section 16(a)(B) of the MACC Act 2009.
