KUALA LUMPUR — After being postponed since December last year, the auction of luxury cars and 727 personal items belonging to celebrity entrepreneur Datuk Seri Vida is set to take place on October 30.
According to a public auction notice published in a local English-language newspaper today, the sale is being carried out by creditor AH Design Communication Sdn Bhd against Vida.
The move follows Vida’s failure to settle the outstanding amount owed to subcontractor AH Design Communication.
Vida, whose real name is Hasmiza Othman, had also failed to reach a settlement or obtain approval for her request to delay the auction for nearly a year, claiming the seized items were borrowed goods.
However, the court ruled otherwise after she failed to produce sufficient evidence to support her claim.
An estimated 727 of Vida’s belongings were earlier seized during a five-hour operation at her luxury bungalow in Ipoh on November 25 last year.
The items were confiscated after Vida failed to pay over RM1 million in outstanding debts to AH Design Communication, a construction contractor, dating back to 2018.
Among the seized items were four cars, as well as household goods such as a Sharp toaster, Coway water filter, dressing table, refrigerator and others.
The auction was initially scheduled for December 9 last year but was postponed after the Kuala Lumpur High Court granted Vida’s request for a stay.
