National squash star S. Sivasangari's impressive run at the 2026 Windy City Open in Chicago came to a heartbreaking end in the quarter-finals on February 9, 2026. Facing world number five Nour El Sherbini, Sivasangari pushed the Egyptian third seed to the absolute limit in a gripping 51-minute battle. Despite a valiant effort that saw her trade games with one of the world's best, Sivasangari eventually succumbed 6–11, 11–6, 7–11, 11–7, 8–11.

The defeat marks the end of the Malaysian challenge at the prestigious Platinum-tier tournament. Sivasangari’s exit followed the earlier departures of other national players in the round of 16, including men's number one Ng Eain Yow, who lost to Paul Coll, and rising talent Aira Azman, who fell to American Olivia Weaver. Despite the loss, Sivasangari’s performance against a top-five opponent reinforces her status as one of the elite contenders on the professional circuit.
