As the 2026 Winter Olympics progress in Milan-Cortina, Norway continues to dominate the overall medal table, leading with a total of 28 medals, including 12 golds. Norwegian head of delegation Tore Oevreboe attributed the country's sustained success to a long-standing sports culture that prioritizes youth development and equal access to training over immediate results.

The highlight of recent Norwegian success was a gold medal win in the men’s 4 x 7.5-kilometer relay. Host nation Italy remains in a strong second place, fueled by passionate home support and consistent performances in alpine events. Other notable performances include American speed skater Jordan Stolz, who set an Olympic record to win his second gold of these Games in the 500m.

The Games have also featured significant individual milestones, such as Norwegian cross-country skier Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo becoming the most decorated Winter Olympian of all time. With several days of competition remaining, the battle for the top spot between Norway and Italy is expected to intensify as the marquee skiing and skating events conclude.
