The UEFA Champions League knockout phase play-offs saw Newcastle United deliver a dominant performance, crushing Qarabag 6–1. Anthony Gordon was the star of the night, scoring four goals in the first half to effectively secure the tie for the Magpies ahead of the second leg.

In a more competitive fixture, Atletico Madrid was held to a thrilling 3–3 draw by Club Brugge. Despite taking a two-goal lead twice, Diego Simeone's defense faltered, allowing Christos Tzolis to score a late 89th-minute equalizer for the Belgian hosts.

Other notable play-off results included Bayer Leverkusen securing a 2–0 victory over Olympiacos, thanks to a quickfire second-half double from Patrik Schick. Bodø/Glimt also continued their impressive form with a 3–1 win over Inter Milan, putting them in a strong position to advance.
