The fate of seven key naturalised Malaysian football players remains uncertain ahead of a critical hearing scheduled for February 26. This legal battle follows allegations of document falsification and breaches of FIFA eligibility rules during the 2027 Asian Cup qualifying campaign. The players involved—including Facundo Garces and Rodrigo Holgado—are currently playing under a "stay of execution" granted by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Earlier this year, the scandal led to a mass resignation of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) executive committee to avoid a potential FIFA takeover. Fans are closely watching the outcome, as a negative ruling could result in point deductions for the national team and the forfeiture of past victories against teams like Vietnam and Nepal.
