Nineteen-year-old Tan Kean Wei has officially accepted an offer to rejoin the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM). He was one of four independent players invited by national singles coaching director Kenneth Jonassen for a talent identification trial aimed at strengthening the men's singles department.
While Kean Wei has reported for duty at the Academy Badminton Malaysia, three other invited players Chua Kim Sheng, Lee Jan Jireh, and Ong Zhen Yi opted to remain independent. This move is part of a broader effort to build depth in the national squad following Malaysia's recent quarter-final exit from the Asia Team Badminton Championships.
