National men's doubles pair Choong Hon Jian and Mohd Haikal Nazri are hoping to break their string of first-round exits as the German Open begins tomorrow. The duo faces a formidable challenge in their opening match against China's world No. 3 pair, Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang. Haikal expressed a need to manage injury fears while aiming to overcome the "first-round blues" that have plagued their recent campaigns in Malaysia, India, and Indonesia.

In women's singles news, coach Nova Armada has issued a firm directive to Goh Jin Wei to focus exclusively on her main discipline, ending recent experimental forays into mixed doubles. This decision comes as the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) invited her to represent the country at the upcoming Uber Cup Finals in Denmark this April. Nova stressed that mixed doubles would unnecessarily drain her energy as she begins to show signs of progress in her singles career.
