Thirteen Killed and Twenty Five Injured in Horrific Container Truck and Tempo Crash on Mumbai Ahmedabad Highway

A devastating road accident occurred on the Mumbai Ahmedabad National Highway near Dahanu in Maharashtra's Palghar district. An Eicher tempo carrying over 40 family members en route to an engagement ceremony was struck head on by a speeding container truck. The impact of the collision was so severe that both heavy vehicles completely overturned on the highway, trapping passengers underneath.

Thirteen people were pronounced dead at the scene, while more than 25 others sustained severe injuries. Local villagers, police personnel, and emergency medical teams rushed to the site to extract victims from the mangled wreckage. The injured passengers were immediately transported to the Kasa sub district hospital and other nearby medical facilities for urgent treatment.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed his deepest condolences regarding the tragedy. He officially announced an ex-gratia financial assistance of RM 27,000 (₹5 lakh) for the families of the deceased and ensured full state funding for the treatment of the injured. Law enforcement has registered a criminal case and launched an investigation into the container driver's speeding and potential overloading of the passenger vehicle.
