A fatal single vehicle accident claimed the life of a 22 year old female driver near Kampung Angus along Jalan Persisiran Pantai Bekenu in Sarawak. The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department operations control centre received a distress call regarding the incident at 1.21 AM on Friday. A rescue team from the Batu Niah fire station was immediately deployed to the location, situated roughly 35 kilometers away.
Upon arriving at the scene an hour later, emergency responders found the victim's hatchback car overturned inside a deep roadside ditch. The female driver was found completely unconscious and tightly trapped inside the vehicle's cabin. Firefighters immediately initiated extrication procedures using a specialized stretcher to safely pull her from the wreckage.
Despite rescue efforts, the young woman was tragically pronounced dead due to severe trauma sustained during the impact. Local authorities are conducting an initial investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash. Preliminary findings suggest she lost control of the vehicle before veering off the coastal highway.
