KOTA KINABALU: The remand order for two men detained over the murder of a 10-year-old girl, whose body was found in Sepanggar last week, has been extended until Friday (July 31).

Investigating officer Assistant Superintendent La Paula Abd Muis said the extension was granted for another week to allow police to complete investigations.

The two suspects — a 39-year-old undocumented man and a 42-year-old local man — were initially remanded for seven days until July 24 before police applied for an extension.

They were arrested following the discovery of Nurjilya Abdullah whose body was found on an overgrown slope near a house under construction in Kampung Numbak on July 16.

It was reported that the post-mortem examination found that Nurjilya died from injuries to her face and the back of her head, believed to have been caused by a hard, blunt object.
