Moscow — US Vice President Kamala Harris has canceled her planned trip to Singapore, Bahrain, and Germany due to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles.
The White House confirmed that Harris decided to stay in the US to support the federal response to the fires. Press Secretary Ernesto Apreza stated that both Harris and her husband, the Second Gentleman, will remain in the country amid the crisis.
Since Tuesday, multiple wildfires have ravaged Los Angeles and surrounding areas, killing at least five people and forcing tens of thousands to evacuate. The National Weather Service has warned that critical fire conditions will persist through Friday due to high winds and low humidity. Preliminary damage estimates from AccuWeather range between $52 billion and $57 billion.
